Expansion of Nutrition Education Resources for Substance-Using Pregnant People

This project entailed creating a new class for the Substance Using Pregnant People (SUPPs) unit on the Swedish Hospital Ballard campus. The class readings were comprised of pregnancy and breast/chest feeding nutrition topics, such as the importance of folic acid, calcium, iron, and how to safely navigate fish and caffeine consumption. Activities to practice identifying nutrients in certain foods and identifying micronutrients on nutrition facts labels were included as well. In the future, this class will be taught in-unit by the RD and Diet Technician.
