Child Nutrition Policy 101 with FoodCorps: Educating Professionals on Federal and State Policy and their Role in Advocacy
FoodCorps is a national nonprofit with the mission to advance children’s health, nutrition, education, and well-being through food in school so that every child experiences the joy and power of food. They work through direct partnerships with schools and other nonprofits, community engagement, and policy and advocacy to advance their mission. This project was a part of an initiative to further their policy and advocacy efforts through professional development for individuals already working in child nutrition, whether through their organization or through a new fellowship program for professionals from diverse backgrounds. The project entailed development of educational materials for an introductory session on child nutrition policy at a federal and state level and the importance of child nutrition policy advocacy.
