Seattle Farm to Preschool Program Family Engagement

The Seattle Farm to Preschool Program (F2P) works to connect local preschools with farmers through various learning opportunities, hands-on activities, and events. Capstone students were asked to help increase family engagement with the program, as well as develop resources to support a DIY farm stand activity.

In collaboration with community partners, the Family-Engagement team designed a back-to-school pamphlet for parents and caregivers, a teacher guide introducing the organization to educators, and five take-home worksheets for families to complete alongside the course curriculum. These deliverables aim to provide a strong foundation for F2P collaboration that can be maintained throughout the year.

To increase preschool student engagement and family participation with the F2P’s DIY Farm Stand curriculum, the Farm Stand team created an an activity guide and hands-on resources to allow preschool staff to operate a stand without F2P nutrition coordinators. Their approach focused on maintaining staff accessibility while supporting preschool nutrition education.
