Undergraduate Study
Explore Food at UW
If you’re still exploring options, a great place to start is by taking our introductory course NUTR 200 Nutrition for Today. This course offers a high-level introduction that examines the role of nutrition in health, wellness, and prevention of chronic disease.
You can also explore food through other academic departments, student organizations, and volunteer opportunities:
- The departments of Anthropology, Geography, and Political Science offer courses focused on food concepts as part of their curriculum.
- The Public Health–Global Health Major: Nutritional Sciences Option offers an organized pathway of courses that will prepare you, in part, for graduate studies in nutrition, dietetics, and other health professions.
- The Environmental Studies Major offers an understanding of how humans interact with and influence the environment.
- There are several food-related Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) that you may join, including the ASUW Student Food Co-op and The Dirty Dozen student farm club.
- Become a volunteer at UW Farm or the UW Food Pantry.
