Published May 10, 2021, this brief focuses on findings from WAFOOD 2 survey conducted December 2020 – January 2021, and examines changes in food insecurity and food assistance in Washington State households.

Initial Findings

A total of 3,511 Washington State residents responded to the WAFOOD 2 survey. Household food insecurity remains high at 27% with disparities by income, education, race/ethnicity, and in households with children persisting. Use of any food assistance also rose from 29% before COVID-19 to 33% in WAFOOD 1 and to 42% in WAFOOD 2.
